QMetry (JIRA Plugin) enables bulk test case creation and import.
Introduction:
Does every test case have to be drafted separately on a different user interface? Or would you rather draft everything in a single spreadsheet and then simply copy and paste what you need to keep things consistent?
Have it peer-reviewed later or reviewed by an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in an easy-to-read format (.xls) for any SME. Why not upload them all at once in a few simple steps after the changes and improvements are finished?
Pros of Using the Import Method:
- Time efficiency: Bulk importing saves time, particularly when dealing with many test cases.
- Easy review process: Excel allows users to customize views, apply filters, and sort data based on specific criteria, allowing for a tailored approach to reviewing test cases and adding comments. It is easily shareable and accessible.
- Data Accuracy: Reduces the likelihood of errors associated with manual data entry, ensuring data accuracy throughout the import process.
- Consistency: Enables standardized test case creation by importing data from a structured template, promoting consistency across multiple tests.
- Flexibility: Simple to implement because there is no initial setup required and the test case template is already created and maintained.
- Data Migration: Bulk import allows for data migration from other test case management systems or tools, preserving valuable testing information.
Cons of Using the Import Method:
- Errors due to limitations: When importing test cases, errors may occur due to character type and character count. (In that case, these limitations must be manually addressed in the test case template and re-uploaded)
- Limitations when dealing with business components: Following the bulk import of test cases, if ‘business components’ are required, a manual editing step is required to add links with ‘business components.
